When Should Hospital Bag Be Packed?

Thinking of the day you meet your sweet babe is exciting; you’ll never know what will happen when you go into labor, so having your hospital bag prepared is essential.

Most women prefer to pack their hospital bags between 34 to 36 weeks. If you are having multiples, it is suggested to pack your hospital bag by 30 weeks!

Below is the ultimate hospital bag checklist for mom and baby.

Hospital Bag Checklist For Mom:

The Essentials:

  • Form Of ID
  • Insurance Card
  • Birth Plan
  • Phone Chargers
  • Cash – Snacks, Fast Food, Parking, etc
  • Blankets + Warm Clothing-Hospitals are VERY cold

Personal Care Items:

  • Toiletries-Toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, body wash or soap, lip balm, deodorant, hair ties, and other personal items
  • Eyewear-Contacts/Glasses
  • Nursing Pads- Even if you are not planning to breastfeed, your boobs will leak milk during your hospital stay
  • Makeup-If you’re into that
  • Pony Tails-Its better to have one and not need it than to need one and not have it

Clothing Items:

  • Comfy Slippers + Shower Sandals
  • Nursing Bras
  • Sleepwear/Robe
  • Loose Clothing
  • Socks
  • Going Home Outfit
  • Disposable Panties-Hospital will provide you with many. This is if you prefer to bring your own

Other Items:

  • Nursing Pillow
  • Gifts For Your Nurses
  • Snacks From Home
  • Forms Of Entertainment

Baby’s Hospital Bag Checklist:

The hospital will provide (almost) everything your baby needs but here are a few things to have on your hospital bag checklist.

  • Car Seat
  • Going Home Outfit

The hospital will provide swaddles, onesies, hats, mittens, diapers, wipes, etc., but you can always bring your own if you’d like.

You DO NOT need to bring your breast pump- the hospital can also provide one.
